Superhero: Iyad Shelby's Impossible Journey to Medal, From Birth to Fame
He was born deaf and mute, left paralyzed in his lower body following a tragic fall at the age of 7 and underwent a lengthy rehabilitation at the Levinstein House.
Most people would not have faced the challenges posed to the new gold medalist, but he defeated them.

Iyad Shelby is a true superhero.
The story of his life is full of difficulties that an ordinary person could hardly withstand, but the 34-year-old Paralympic swimmer from Shfaram probably winks at other materials.
Even when he was born, he suffered from a disability due to being deaf and dumb from birth, like his twin brother.
His father, who is with him in Tokyo, previously told Paralympic Committee members that when Iyad was seven, he fell from a roof to a concrete floor during a family event and was left paralyzed in the lower body after breaking vertebrae in his back.
Shelby underwent a lengthy rehabilitation at Rambam Hospital and Beit Levinstein, and his father did not abandon him for a moment. At the age of 13, he took him to swimming lessons in a pool in Kiryat Haim. 100 meters back.

Frozen shoulder?
Calcification?
Many problems that cause shoulder pain and one treatment that helps them all
Shelby communicates through sign language with his father who was very excited this morning with winning the gold medal that gave validity to the tremendous efforts Shelby has put in all his life.
In terms of his disability category he is in the highest rank.
His disability is considered the most difficult in competitions.
And yet - nothing stood in his way.
The one who coaches Shalabi as well as the entire Paralympic swimming team is Yaakov Beninson, who is given a lot of credit by the Paralympic Committee.
"Yaakov Beninson is doing an excellent job with the team and we believe that Iyad's magical medal this morning is not the only one of Israel in swimming," said Shuki Dekel, chairman of the Paralympic Committee.
"Iyad Shelby is a hero and what he did in Tokyo is fantastic. We believed he was a favorite for a medal after he also won the world championship. We are so proud of him and happy for his family and his wonderful father."
Is this just the opening shot?
