An impressive achievement for Paralympic swimmer Mark Mellier, who today (Friday) won a gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics while breaking the world record in the 200-meter individual medley with a disability level of S7.
Maliar was born with cerebral palsy and trains at the ILAN pool in Kiryat Haim. He is considered one of the top Paralympic swimmers in the world and last year won the world championship in the 400m individual medley, breaking the world record.
Maliar stopped the clock at 2: 29.01 minutes , A significant improvement to the previous record of 2: 30.72 minutes and set by the Ukrainian Yevgeny Bogodaiko in Rio de Janeiro 2016. Today he overtook Andrei Trosov (Ukraine) who set 2: 29.99 minutes and Carlos Sarata (Colombia) who stopped the clock at 2: 31.58 minute.
