Praise for FC Forstern: "By far the best tournament"

The organizers of FC Forstern earned a lot of recognition.

Uschi Hopfner and Bernhard Suchy held up the district flag.

"It's just frustrating when you set up the complete schedule for five hours and consider around 50 desired dates and then everything has to be rescheduled three days later," said referee Alexander Dittrich.

But like every year, the team around tournament director Hans Mielach could rely on the numerous helpers. The games were not only played in Forstern, but also at SV Hörlkofen, VfB Forstinning, TC Bavaria Anzing, TC Isen and SV Walpertskirchen. As a backup, SV Wörth had also made their places available. Some of the games were played on 30 places at the same time in order to cope with the 306 registrations. This makes the Forsterner senior tournament this year the tennis tournament with the most participants in all of Bavaria and has been upgraded to category S-1 due to its quality.

The positive feedback from the participants, who only praised the organization of the tournament, was a balm for the souls of the helpers.

"You are by far the best-organized tennis tournament," said Ursula Geiger from TSV Siegsdorf, praising the Forsterner tournament management before their final game.

One of the sporting highlights this year was the men's 50 final. Terry Deeth (TC Sigmaringen), who has already won the tournament twice and was once again in first place this year, met Oliver Jöhl, who lives in Erding, participated in the tournament for the first time and plays for the STK Garching in the men's 30 league.

Both his powerful serve as well as the powerful basic strokes brought Deeth under pressure again and again.

In the end, Jöhl clearly won 6: 3 and 6: 1.

The result was even clearer for men 45. The unseeded Uli Bengeser from Augsburg did not give the number 8 from Germany, Thomas Fulde (TC Rot-Weiß Passau), the slightest chance and won 6: 0 and 6: 1 after one hour.

“So that's how tennis really works,” you heard from a spectator at the fence who was watching the final carefully.

In the men's 70 category, the top seeded Herbert Köhler from Dorfen grabbed the title.

In the final against Paul Stumpf (TC Viechtach), Köhler won the first round 6: 2.

But Stumpf didn't give up and, as in the two previous matches, got into the match tie-break, which he won with 10: 8 points.

Only stopped in the final: Helmut Krimmer from FC Forstern finished second in the secondary round.

At least in the second round, two titles went to participants from the district.

Walpertskirchen's Bernhard Suchy defeated Mario Amendinger (TC Erding) 6: 4 and 6: 4 in the men’s 40 in heavy drizzle and difficult course conditions.

Uschi Hopfner from SV Hörlkofen secured victory after a tough fight against Renate Scherzer-Bachmayer (TSV Schäftlarn) in the women's 65 (3: 6, 6: 2 and 10: 8).

Teammate Mathilde Gross aimed for the same in the last game on Sunday in the women's 55.

She confidently won the first set 6-0.

But opponent Ursula Willscheck (GW Luitpoldpark Munich) found her way back into the game and won 6: 3 and 10: 5.

Helmut Krimmer held up the Forsterner flags.

When he first participated in age group 70, there was nothing to win in the main round against number 220 in the German rankings, but in the secondary round Krimmer played his way to the final.

Supported by a number of fans, he lost to Josef Hilz (TC Neutraubling) 2: 6 and 1: 6.

"We saw great tennis again in Forstern and are already looking forward to the tournament next year," said tournament director Mielach at the individual award ceremonies.

Hopefully with better tennis weather next year.
