World number one Australian Ashleigh Barty made her way to the third round of the US Open with her victory over Denmark's Clara Towson today.
According to Reuters, Barty qualified by winning in two sets, 6-1, 7-5.
As in her opening match of the tournament, when she beat Russia's Vera Zvonareva, Barty dominated the match early and then struggled in the second set to seal the victory.
Despite this, 25-year-old Barty succeeded in qualifying for the third round, where she will meet the winner of the match between American Shelby Rogers and Romanian Sorana Cristea.
