Verstappen, King of the Netherlands
Before the “real” King of the Netherlands, Max Verstappen waved the throne for just under two hours.
After his pole on Saturday, the Dutchman was untouchable on Sunday.
A great start, a strong first run, a well-managed strategy to thwart Mercedes' plans, Sunday was perfect for the Dutchman.
He thus slams his seventh victory of the season, his 17th in his career, and takes the lead in the championship ahead of Lewis Hamilton for three small points.
An ideal weekend for Max Verstappen who once again did not tremble under the pressure.
LiveMax Verstappen take home master
Alonso, solid sixth
The Spaniard made a good impression in Zandvoort. Ninth on the grid, Fernando Alonso quickly gained two positions and went to offer Carlos Sainz on the last lap. Sixth in the end, he made a good comeback, the only one among the initial top 10. He resumed his forward march, he who remained on six results in the points before Spa-Francorchamps.
Gasly, the best of the others
We saw him little during the Grand Prix, which is not a bad thing in general.
Fourth on the grid, the Frenchman retained his position throughout the race.
Very solid as usual, Gasly mastered Charles Leclerc's comeback at the end of the race and managed to keep his position.
He scored twelve important points and grabbed a place in the drivers' standings by overtaking Daniel Ricciardo.
FLOPS
Giovinazzi sank
Surprising seventh after qualifying, the Italian had a great opportunity to score points on Sunday.
But nothing worked for the Alfa Romeo driver.
He quickly lost three positions and then suffered with medium and hard tires.
In the end, Antonio Giovinazzi finished fourteenth, just ahead of Kubica.
A big disappointment.
McLaren is no longer moving
With the point scored by Lando Norris, tenth at Zandvoort, McLaren has just registered seven units in three weekends.
The record is meager, very meager even from Hungary.
And it is not Daniel Ricciardo who will improve it.
Eleventh, the Australian finished out of points for the fourth time this season and Ferrari took advantage.
With sixteen points registered (5th place for Leclerc and 7th for Sainz), the Scuderia overtakes McLaren and takes third place among constructors.
Just before Monza.
Aston Martin without rhythm in the Netherlands
The British team continues to disappoint. Since the Monaco-Baku sequence, Aston Martin is in pain and it is not in Zandvoort that things have improved. Twelfth and thirteenth, two laps behind the leaders, Lance Stroll and Sebastian Vettel suffered despite a one-stop strategy. The German even lost his car on the brakes halfway through the race, fortunately without consequences. But the car does not progress and the results are felt. At this rate, it will be difficult to claim better than seventh place among constructors at the end of the season.
