British justice indicted on Monday a second man as part of the investigation into the rape charges against French international defender of Manchester City Benjamin Mendy, police said.
The 40-year-old man, Louis Saha Matturie, was charged with four rapes committed against three people between April and August, Cheshire police said.
His possible links with Benjamin Mendy have not been specified.
Presented to a judge on Monday, he was imprisoned and is due to appear again on Friday in a court in Chester (north-west), the same day as Mendy. The latter had been placed in pre-trial detention at the end of August. His club, where he has been playing since 2017, had suspended him a few minutes before the police announced his referral to justice. The France international is charged with three rapes in October 2020 and one rape in August 2021, at his home in Prestbury, Cheshire. He is also accused of sexual assault on a woman, also at his home, at the beginning of last January.
