Europe's best female golfers successfully defended the Solheim Cup in a continental comparison with the USA.
The guests with the German Sophia Popov defeated the US team at 15:13 on Monday (local time) at the Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio.
For the Europeans it was the seventh triumph in the 17th continental comparison.
The Europeans started with a 9: 7 lead in the twelve singles on the final day.
The decisive point for the defending champions was won by Emily Pedersen from Denmark with great cheers.
It is the second time that Europe has won the trophy on American soil.
The last European away win was in 2013.
Popov previously lost her match against Megan Khang prematurely after playing 16 holes.
For the 28-year-old British Open winner from 2020, it was the first participation in the Solheim Cup.
The Solheim Cup is the female counterpart to the Ryder Cup for men.
Every two years, the twelve best female golfers from the USA and Europe meet for a continental comparison.
The 18th edition of the Solheim Cup will take place in 2023 at the Finca Cortesin Golf Club on the Spanish Costa del Sol.
