Four days after it became known that the legendary Pele had to undergo surgery to remove a tumor in the colon, it was learned that another past star of the Salsa needed surgery to remove the gallbladder.
The 55-year-old former footballer was hospitalized in a Rio de Janeiro hospital when the operation was performed today (Friday).
The hospital did not provide too many details, but did say that the operation was successful, and that the Brazilian who starred in Barcelona in the 1990s is in recovery.
Romario, who has cracked a political career in recent years and is serving as a senator in the Brazilian House of Representatives, also said that "the procedure has been completed without any complications. He is under supervision and should be released to his home in the coming days."
