Franca Henseleit would have loved to win another medal in her last DM in the junior division.

But it shouldn't be.

The Steingadenerin nevertheless looks back positively on the competition in Jena - and is looking forward to the future in the elite class.

Jena / Steingaden - Franca Henseleit looked at the medal winners without any feelings of envy.

“The girls in the leadership deservedly fought for it,” said the triathlete from Steingaden.

At the German championship for young triathletes in Jena, Henseleit took eighth place.

Of course, the 18-year-old wanted to finish at the top again in her last DM in the junior women's class.

But the course of the race did not suit her.

Henseleit, German A-Youth Champion in 2018 and 2019, took it sporty: Under the circumstances, it was “a good race for me, and I'm also satisfied”.

You tried everything and gave: "With that I can end the season well."

The DM was also about tickets for the Junior World Championships in October in the Bahamas.

Franca Henseleit only experiences this from a distance.

But she doesn't hold a grudge in this regard either.

"I'm really looking forward to October 17th, to follow her races on television," she says, referring to Jule Behrens (1st place), Julia Bröcker (2nd place) and Sophia Weiler (3rd place).

Simon Henseleit in the Super League

The

Olympic Park in Munich

on Sunday, September 12 the first time host a competition of "Super League Triathlon".

Simon Henseleit

from Steingaden received

a wildcard

for the event in the state capital

. In Munich, the athletes first complete a time trial on the bike. According to the placement and the time intervals, they then start a pursuit race (two times swimming 300 meters / cycling 3.6 kilometers / running 1.8 kilometers), whereby athletes who go too far lag behind, drop out each time. The “Super League Triathlon” includes four competitions this year; Munich is the second stop after London. The other competitions will take place on the Channel Island of Jersey (September 18) and in Malibu (September 25).

In swimming (750 meters), Henseleit was right at the front - after 11:20 minutes she got out of the water. It was clear to her: Due to the lack of performance in running (due to various injury problems), she only has a chance to win a medal if she can break away on the bike (20 kilometers) in a small group. At first it looked like it should work. With four competitors, she formed the top. But since the course was flat and had hardly any difficult corners, it was "impossible to withstand the large group of pursuers," reported Henseleit. She completed the bike split in 34:52 minutes. In a large group, it went to the transition area - and the final 5-kilometer run. "A pure running decision was of course not what I was hoping for."especially the reigning European champion Behrens, let go. But Henseleit fought and worked his way up to eighth place in a long sprint to the finish. Their running time was 15:49 minutes.
