After 13 particularly successful seasons, Mark Gasol's NBA career is coming to an end. According to a senior reporter, Adrian Wozniacki, Gasol's current team, the Los Angeles Lakers, traded him after just one season with the Memphis Grizzlies along with a 2024 second-round pick. In return, the City of Angels team received the draft rights to Chinese center Wang Jelin, who has never left the league in his homeland. Despite the trade to Grizzlies, the Spanish chin is not expected to wear the uniform of the mythical ex, but to break free from the contract and return to Europe.
After spending his first 10.5 years in the league at Grizzlies, Gasol traded to the Toronto Raptors in 2019 and helped it win a historic championship.
After a year and a half in Canada, the chin signed a two-year contract with the Lakers last summer, but did not particularly excel in his first season in California.
During the summer it was reported that the parties may separate during the summer, and now the move has been implemented.
The Lakers signed two veteran chins this summer, Dwight Howard and Diandra Jordan, thus pushing the 36-year-old Spaniard out of the Frank Vogel rotation.

As part of the deal, the Lakers will not only save the Spaniard's salary, which stands at $ 2.7 million, but it will save double that amount in light of the fact that it is above the league's tax ceiling.
In 52 games in the Lakers uniform this season, Gasol averaged 5 points and 4.1 rebounds in 19 minutes on the floor.
Overall, over the course of his career the veteran Spaniard has averaged 14 points and 7.4 rebounds per game.
Gasol, who has been selected three times for the All-Star Game and won the defensive player of the season title, is likely to return to the old continent, with the most natural move of all being a reunion with his brother Pau Gasol in Barcelona, their youth team.
As you may recall, over the last summer the Gasol brothers even announced their retirement from the Spanish national team, following the loss to the United States in the quarterfinals of the Olympic tournament.
