After four Bundesliga games without a win and the cup defeat at third division Waldhof Mannheim, Eintracht Frankfurt missed the first sense of achievement under coach Oliver Glasner on Sunday.
At home against VfB Stuttgart, the club had to make do with a 1: 1 (0: 0), Filip Kostic contributed the opening goal (79th minute).
In August, the flank player had refused team training because of a planned move to Lazio Rome, and the transfer had not taken place after that.
Stuttgart's Waldemar Anton saw the red card late (81st), but the guests managed to equalize through Omar Marmoush (87th).
The first opportunity of the game presented itself to the Frankfurters, Jens Petter Hauge aimed from 18 meters, however, a little too high (2nd).
Afterwards, Eintracht remained decisive in the game and more active than the guests from Stuttgart, who were particularly keen to stand securely and to get behind the Frankfurt defense with speed when counterattacks.
Omar Marmoush managed to do this by dribbling almost to the baseline, Kevin Trapp was able to fend off his attempt from an acute angle with his chest (18th).
On the right wing Roberto Massimo used some space a little later for the next shot opportunity, again Trapp could not get past (34th).
Frankfurt put in a lot of effort, but rarely managed to combine through midfield and create opportunities.
Most likely, summer access was approaching Sam Lammers, the Dutch striker put a deflected low shot just next to the Stuttgart goal (42nd).
Hinteregger fails on the crossbar
After the break, Frankfurt continued to be superior. After Kostic came on as a substitute (59th), Eintracht became more compelling in front of the goal: An uncontrolled ball through the Stuttgart penalty area landed at Lammers, whom Florian Müller stood in the way five meters from the goal line (61st). In the very next action, Martin Hinteregger hit the crossbar with a header after a corner kick (62nd).
In the 74th minute, the ball was in the Stuttgart goal, but Daichi Kamada's goal was legitimately not counted: Referee Matthias Jöllenbeck had accidentally passed the ball with the heel into the path of the Japanese.
Kostic's goal was then valid: His low shot from the left bounced off the inside post over the goal line (79th).
Anton's emergency brake, punished with red, made the afternoon even more annoying for VfB (81st), before Marmoush reconciled the guests with the game with an equalizer (87th).
Florian Müller held the point in stoppage time spectacularly against Rafael Borré (90 + 4).
