Ligue 1: Rennes falls again, dark Bordeaux, Germain already adopted by Montpellier

2021-09-12T15:35:55.271Z

A happy draw for the runner-up Angers, Bordeaux new red lantern, Valère Germain already scorer with Montpellier ... Here is what it takes

The fall: Bordeaux always lower

After a turbulent summer, Bordeaux needed a home success against Lens to kick off their season, as the first four days ended in two draws and two losses, a first since 2000-2001 for the Girondins.

Not easy when in front, there was an unbeaten team this season (1 victory, 3 draws), and terribly consistent for many months.

In distress in the defensive sector, capable of aberrant marking largesse, the Bordelais still fell logically (2-3), not without having clung to a crazy end of the match.

But back from 0-2 to 2-2, Vladimir Petkovic's players bowed on a penalty confirmed by the VAR and transformed at the end of the end by Florian Sotoca (90th + 6).

Bordeaux continues a second defeat, and is adorned with the unfortunate costume of a red lantern.

Lens is at the foot of the podium.

The good draw: Angers is doing well

Surprised dolphin of PSG and still undefeated this season in the league (3 impressive successes against Strasbourg, Rennes, Lyon, and a draw), Angers almost knew his first stoppage on the lawn of an exciting Brest team (1 -1).

Faced with the best defense in Ligue 1, which had so far conceded only one goal in Bordeaux, the Brestois started at one hundred per hour, and almost scored three times in the first eight minutes.

The flaw was finally found by Romain Faivre, very close to a start at AC Milan this summer but who reconciled with Francis-Le Blé on a penalty on the hour mark (62nd).

Dominated almost the entire match, the Angevins snatched the equalizer on their only shot on target, that of Thomas Mangani also on a penalty (78th).

Brest (17th) would have deserved its first success of the season, while Angers retains its second place.

The player: Germain dubbed by the Mosson

Recruited to try to forget the Delort-Laborde doublet - not an easy task - Valère Germain was eagerly awaited by Mosson for his first in the Hérault jersey. Holder alone at the forefront of a 4-2-3-1 six months after his last official match, the former Marseillais quickly put the MHSC in the pocket against Saint-Etienne (2-0). Never stingy with efforts, very available, Germain was effective after the hour of play on a service from a very good Stephy Mavididi (a goal and an assist). His 6th career goal against Saint-Etienne, his favorite opponent in the elite, who has still not won this season and falls into the red zone (19th). Thanks to its new 9, and an untenable Mavididi-Savanier doublet, Montpellier climbed to 8th place.

The breakdown: Rennes can't do it

If Germain was quick to take his marks, Gaëtan Laborde had a harder time showing off with his new formation. Landed in Rennes against 15 million euros, the former MHSC scorer could not open his goal counter at Roazhon Park. The Bretons even had to lose 2-0 against Reims on a goal before half an hour from young Hugo Ekitike (19), who is starting to make a good place in the eleven of Reims (second tenure). Then on a realization of his equally young replacement, N'Dri Koffi (67th), scorer at 19 for his first professional appearance.

Oscar Garcia's players obtain a first important success (9th), where Rennes (11th) continues a second setback despite the bar found on a free kick by Benjamin Bourigeaud (55th).

To make matters worse for Bruno Genesio's business, Martin Terrier was injured in the first period, holding the back of one thigh.

The good move: Troyes wins thanks to its recruits

During the summer transfer window, Troyes had attracted 17 players, more than any Ligue 1 club. If the red lantern at kick-off had a hard time getting up to the elite level since his rise, the promoted aubois has finally launched its season on the lawn of Metz (0-2).

And this, thanks to two of the new recruits of Laurent Battles: the former Reims Xavier Chavalerin (a goal and an assist), and the player loaned by Dynamo Kiev and… Trained in Metz, Gerson Rodrigues with a spectacular gesture ( 49th).

If Pape Matar Sarr, biggest transfer in Metz history - ceded to Tottenham against 20 million euros but loaned for the season in Lorraine -, violently hit the helm of Gauthier Gallon (14th), Metz did not deserve better during of this duel between formations accustomed to making the lift between L1 and L2.

Troyes, who remained on 18 unsuccessful trips in Ligue 1 (4 draws, 14 defeats), recorded this end of the series, and is positioned 15th while waiting for Adil Rami to join the eleven. For Metz, 18th, the first victory is long overdue.
