Summary of the Cincinnati 2021 Tournament Final (Sports 1)
The last Grand Slam of 2021 comes to an end tonight, when Novak Djokovic meets Daniel Medvedev in the final of the US Open in an attempt to make history: the world number one could record an achievement not in men's tennis since 1969 - winning all four major tournaments in that calendar year. But no less important and perhaps even more so - if he wins, he will overtake Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal and make him the all-time Grand Slam winner, with 21 overall. Medvedev (2nd in the world) will hope to spoil the celebration for the Serbs and win the first Grand Slam of his career.
During the competition, Djokovic ousted Kay Nishikori, Jenson Brooksby and Matteo Bartini when they each won four sets, and in the semifinals defeated Sasha Zebrav in five sets. The top tennis player in the world today will seek to extend his winning streak at the Grand Slam tournament to 28, when he does so he will indeed compare Rod Leaver's achievement from 52 years ago,But will become the only one to do so in the modern age.

Medvedev, on the other hand, returned to the position in which he surrendered to Rafael Nadal in 2019.
On the way to the final he defeated Richard Gasca, Dominique Kupfer, Pablo Anduhar-Alba and Daniel Evans in three sets, beating Boutique van de Zandshloop 1: 3 in the quarterfinals and went on to another 0: 3 in the semifinals against Felix Oger Eliassim.
The Russian, who excels in hard surfaces, showed great fitness during the year: he succumbed to the same Djokovic in the Australian Open final and won tournaments in Canada, Marseille and Mallorca.
