Responses to Danny Abdia's Injury (Washington Official Website)
The question marks surrounding Danny Abdia ahead of the opening of his second season in the NBA are increasing.
The forward, who is recovering from an injury, has seen Washington strengthen significantly in the positions he is supposed to play in and it is still unclear how and how much he will fit into the rotation of new coach Wes Ansald Jr..
Washington bloggers stepped up to do when we discussed last night (Tuesday) even the possibility of Abdia being sent off during the season to rub shoulders with the Wizards' G-League team, Capital City Go Go.
"The Wizards seem to be building on Danny as the substitute junior forward, but his situation is interesting," blogger Matt Moderno analyzed on the Bleav In Wizards podcast.
"There was excitement after he came to Washington in the draft, and he started the season well but there were some issues that stood out a lot later on. For example, he is unable to dribble with his left hand, does not score steadily and almost does not go to penalties."

Abdia will go down to the bench?
Shepherd: "That way he can function as another playmaker"

According to Moderno, "Abdia has big problems. If he is healthy, he may be surprised. Maybe he will come to training camp and see progress in shooting and dribbling, then the Wizards will use him as a playmaker. But if he comes to training camp with the same problems, it would make sense to move him. "For the Development League some of the time. I don't think that's what Washington wants to see, it's not what she expects to happen. But if it does, it will be a very bad sign for him."
Right now, it looks like the opening small forward will be Cantabius Caldwell Pop.
Kyle Kozma, who also joined this summer, may function on the team's sixth player standard and bite into Abdia's minutes at position 3 and 4 the rest of the time.
The Wizards' forward tally also includes Davis Bartans, Roy Hachimura, Anthony Gil and Corey Kispert, who was selected in the last draft.
