On Wednesday (7 p.m.) VfB Hallbergmoos will be playing at SSV Jahn Regensburg II - and the probability is high that one or the other substitute player from the squad for the 2nd Bundesliga will be involved in the Upper Palatinate.
Hallbergmoos trainer Gedi Sugzda has always been characterized by the fact that he does not look for excuses and argue.
In this way, he also prevents any discussion of the certainly unfortunate position for VfB.

Reunion with a national player
The Jahn-Reserve got seven points from the last three games and worked their way out of the relegation zone of the Bayernliga Süd. Most recently, the team won 2-1 at TSV Wasserburg with a goal by Markus Palionis in the 93rd minute. The former professional (Burghausen, Dresden, Paderborn) is Lithuanian - and was recently the protégé of his compatriot Gedi Sugzda, who acted as assistant coach of the Lithuanian national team. Now there is a reunion in the Bayernliga league game.
Sugzda knows that he can neither influence the Regensburg squad nor the celebrities in the stands. "We have to look at ourselves," says the promoted coach. “And maybe we will get stronger with the class of our opponents.” He also knows that even a souped-up Regensburg reserve cannot be stronger than SV Kirchanschöring, which was recently on the verge of defeat. "We were the better team against a strong opponent," said Sugzda, looking back on the most recent game. Hallbergers, who have now been unbeaten in four games (one win, three draws) would have to be ripped off in order to save the lead over the finish line. Against the Kirchanschöringer they missed the preliminary decision and then lost control of the game in the SVK final offensive. This is a learning processthe troops have to do better on their way to avoiding relegation.
Bayern league premiere at 32
Goalkeeper Ferdi Kozel will play the first Bayern League game of his career in Regensburg.
The goalkeeper was injured in the cup qualification before the start of the season - now he is fully back after his broken finger.
This is very important because Martin Dinkel, who has represented him so far, is going on vacation.
“He did a great job,” says Sugzda.
“But now it's Ferdi’s turn.” The 32-year-old made his first game in the regional league for TSV Eching in 2009 and is now eager to set the next milestone in his career twelve years later in Hallbergmoos with the Bayernliga premiere.
