According to its new president Hans-Joachim Erbel, the German Equestrian Association (FN) wants to increase the pressure on the modern pentathlon.
After the equestrian affair about the pentathlete Annika Schleu at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, organized equestrian sport was also forced to justify itself.
"We see it as our job to exert pressure," said the 62-year-old Erbel on Wednesday at the CHIO in Aachen.
“We say the pentathletes should take out riding.
If they can't, they should change the regulations so that they protect animals and people. "
The FN and the World Equestrian Federation FEI had clearly distanced themselves from the pentathletes after the terrifying pictures with Schleu.
"Safe as the amen in church"
The 31-year-old Schleu did not get along with the completely insecure horse that had been assigned to her while riding.
National trainer Kim Raisner asked the crying Berliner to use the whip with the words "Hit it right!" And also punched the horse with her fist.
Schleu and Raisner were then accused of cruelty to animals.
These pictures of the pentathlon are there at all Olympic Games, so Erbel.
"It'll be as sure as the amen in church." The 62-year-old fears that the discussion will also result in equestrian sport as a whole falling into disrepute.
"They are not riders," he said of the pentathletes.
For the requirements at the Olympics with jumps of over 1.20 meters, knowledge "that they do not have" is required.
The FN and the FEI are looking to talk to the national and international pentathlon federations.
"We need to talk."
Erbel was elected President of the German Equestrian Association at the beginning of July.
