The CEO Thomas Hitzlsperger will not extend his contract with VfB Stuttgart.
As the Bundesliga club announced on Wednesday, the former national player will leave the club after the end of the term in autumn 2022.
Until then, however, Hitzlsperger will remain in office at the request of the Supervisory Board.
»We regret that Thomas does not want to continue his work for our VfB beyond the agreed term of the contract.
We respect the motives for this, however, «said President Claus Vogt, who is also chairman of the supervisory board.
The association will "take the necessary time" to look for a successor.
Hitzlsperger, who fought a violent power struggle with Vogt at the beginning of the year, also made no statement about the motives.
