Dusan Ivkovic, one of the top coaches in Serbian basketball in particular and influential in European basketball in general, passed away this morning (Thursday) Bill 77. According to reports in his homeland, Ivkovic suffered from pulmonary edema.
Many clubs, organizations and players across Europe have dedicated farewell messages and eulogies to the legendary Serb.
During a coaching career that lasted 46 years, the coach won many titles, including two Euroleague wins with Olympiacos, four gold medals at the European Championships (two with the Yugoslavian team and two with Serbia) and another gold at the 1990 World Cup with the Yugoslavian team.

Euroleague president Jordi Bartomeu paid tribute to Ivkovic: "It would not be unreasonable to say that 'Auntie' has influenced European basketball more than any coach ever. More than thanks to his achievements, Auntie will be remembered as a true leader for thousands of players and entire generations of coaches. "His strikers, but Ivkovic's legacy will continue to live where he led the game in Europe."
