As his racing team Aston Martin announced on Thursday morning, the German will also be in the cockpit for the coming season.
His teammate Lance Stroll has also extended.
"I believe in the strength of our new, growing team," the 34-year-old Hesse was quoted in a statement from Aston Martin.
Vettel sees the comprehensive rule reform for the coming season as an opportunity to move closer to the top of the field again.
The man from Heppenheim has been driving for Aston Martin since this year and is twelfth overall after 14 races.
