Solitaire du Figaro: Pierre Quiroga winner of the 52nd edition at the end of the suspense

2021-09-16T20:27:19.365Z

Despite his 9th place in the 4th stage won by Pierre Leboucher, the Mediterranean won his first triumph in the Solitaire and beat Xavier Macaire.

The verdict fell this Thursday at night off Saint-Nazaire.

And unsurprisingly, the final victory went to Pierre Quiroga (Skipper Macif 2019), the boss of the 52nd edition of the Solitaire du Figaro.

For his sixth participation, the Mediterranean, who celebrated his 30th birthday this week on the water, dominated his 33 opponents, signing a masterful triumph, his first in the main event.

Second of the first stage, first of the second round then of the third, Pierre Quiroga signed his worst score on the final course between the bay of Morlaix and the Loire Atlantique. A ninth place which was part of his lead over Xavier Macaire (SNEF Group), winner of the first round and second of this fourth stage but not enough to prevent “the boss” of the race from triumphing.

A perfectly deserved success as the Southerner has demonstrated an impressive speed on the water and an ability to trace his route as he sees fit, one of his trademarks, without worrying more than that about his opponents, nor the to follow.

The Solitaire which has shaped and launched so many great sailors can only be seduced by the greatest.

A rare hope which now includes Pierre Quiroga, the future of French sailing and already its present, as demonstrated by this brilliant success.

Xavier Macaire, who dreams of winning the Solitaire since his first participation in 2011, will have to come back and try his luck, even if he is a very fine runner-up behind Pierre Quiroga, the intractable.
