The refereeing team in matches consists of six referees who are the referee of the arena or the main referee, who is the final decision-maker in the course of the match, and the two flag referees who help the main referee in managing the match and applying the arbitration laws, especially when the ball goes outside the field, the application of throw-in, corner kicks and errors close to them and detection of infiltration Penalty kicks sometimes, and the fourth referee, who announces the changes, substitutions, and the duration of lost time.

SANA Sports Bulletin met the international referee, Abdullah Basallo, who spoke about the beginning of his sports career, saying: I started playing football in popular neighborhoods and then in the school league and the university league. In 1999, referee Muhammad Naal encouraged me to join the arbitration family, so I succeeded as a second-class referee in In 2001 and in 2004 I was promoted to the first division and I was waiting for the opportunity to referee in the Premier League.

Basallo continued: In 2009, I started as a referee in the journalists' tournament between Al-Ittihad and Al-Karama in Al-Hamdaniya Stadium, from which I entered the professional league in the Premier League at the opening of the 2009-2010 season between the Jableh and Al-Nawair teams, pointing out that he obtained the international badge in 2011.

Basalhlo added: At the beginning of 2012, I moved to Georgia as the first Syrian international referee to rule in a European league and ruled the Friendship League for the youth category with the participation of the Italian Inter Milan, Russian Spartak Moscow, Turkish Derbzon, Ukrainian Dynamokiev and Spain’s Espanyol, pointing out that he led many matches locally and European and took them to safety. At the same time, he stressed the need for the referee to be fluent in some languages, especially English, in addition to being proficient in dealing with the computer in all its details, because arbitration is constantly developing.

Basalhlo, who received the best rating on several occasions for his successful leadership of the matches and his strong and confident personality, pointed to the poor financial return of referees compared to football players in the Premier League, which affects the element of attraction to practice arbitration and undermines efforts to expand the arbitration base and compensate employees after retirement.

It is noteworthy that Basalhlo is a member of a technical committee and head of the referees committee in Aleppo. His current goal, he says, is to train young rulers in Aleppo to represent Syria in international forums.
