Even if there is no Oktoberfest again this year, FC Bayern brought a special jersey onto the market.

Munich - In recent years, Bundesliga clubs have caused a sensation with special jerseys for special occasions.

The 1. FC Köln and Mainz 05 bring out a carnival camisole every year, other clubs try their hand at traditional designs or, like BVB recently, leave out the club logo.

FC Bayern presented a new jersey in Oktoberfest style on Thursday, but the choice of colors is probably an exclusion criterion for die-hard fans.

FC Bayern: New Oktoberfest jersey presented - despite repeated cancellation of the Oktoberfest

Without the pandemic, Munich's mayor Dieter Reiter would have opened the Oktoberfest this week with the tapping, but this year the Theresienwiese remains comparatively empty.

However, the renewed cancellation of the Oktoberfest did not stop FC Bayern * from designing an Oktoberfest jersey again.

Members can initially purchase this exclusively for two days in the record champion's online shop.

As the Bavarians write on their homepage, the new playwear is intended to express “the club's bond with its hometown and its traditions”.

In the 2013/14 season, FC Bayern * launched a traditional costume collection including matching white jerseys in shirt design and brown shorts that were supposed to resemble lederhosen.

This year, however, the Adidas designers chose a completely dark green design with golden letters and stripes - a color combination that is extremely unusual for FC Bayern.

FC Bayern: Record champions play in the club colors of TSV 1860 Munich on Saturday

Die-hard fans of FCB will notice a curious peculiarity when looking at the jersey, because green and gold are actually the club colors of the archenemy TSV 1860 Munich. Only the colors of the Löwen * football department are white and blue, other areas, such as the tennis department of the Sechzger, continue to use the classic club colors. The lions also used the green-gold combo more often for their own Oktoberfest special jerseys.

The Bavarians explain the selection of colors with the fact that they create "a connection to traditional costume". This coming weekend will show whether the message will be as well received by the fans as it is meant to be. Julian Nagelsmann's team will wear the jerseys at the Bundesliga match on Saturday against newly promoted VfL Bochum.
