According to Belgian press organs confirming information from the Danish television channel TV 2 SPORT, Chris Anker Sorensen died in Zeebrugge, on the sidelines of the 2021 Worlds. After his racing career, he became a consultant for Danish television and was in Belgium for the world road cycling championships, which will start on Sunday with the time trial between Knokke-Heist and Bruges.

According to Belgian television Sporza, Sorensen was on a bicycle trip when he was involved in an accident with a car. Chris Anker Andersen mainly wore the shirts of the CSC, Saxo Bank and Tinkoff teams.
