Damascus-SANA

The Aikido Technical Committee has completed a new phase of testing the colored belts, and a new batch of male and female players came out, during the tests it conducted in Al-Fayhaa Sports City in Damascus.

More than 50 male and female players were up to date with the certificates of their new colored belts after they passed the “Q” degree tests within the third phase of the series of tests set up by the committee this year.

Committee Chairman Dr. Nafie Afash said in a statement to SANA’s sports representative, “The new batch that graduated came at the conclusion of the summer season and included players of different age groups and with different belts, after they passed the approved training period for the belts, to move on to preparing for the belts in higher grades, where transfer is required. From a belt to the last period of training and mastering the movements of the game within the specified belt for several months.”

Afash added: The sport of aikido in Syria meets the society’s need within the framework of moral education through the discipline of behavior, especially among young age groups, while it constitutes an important element in strengthening the personality of its practitioners within the older age groups, especially as it is a defensive sport rather than an offensive one.

For his part, the Secretary of the Committee Anas Al-Bukai stated that the players who passed the tests are the core of the game in the future and have joined the graduates of the previous batches of the Syrian School of Aikido, which was launched in 2017, thus expanding the base of game practitioners, pointing out that work is underway to spread the culture of the game to include the rest of the governorates.

Vice-Chairman of the Higher Committee for Martial Games, Zuhair Al-Hallaq, indicated that aikido is one of the games approved by the committee, and it entered Syria since 2010 and was properly approved under the supervision of a Japanese expert at the time, and the certificates approved for aikido players and players are officially approved by the Supreme Committee through the technical committee of the game only .

A number of coaches and players called for playing the game because it is a defensive sport par excellence, as it is concerned with physical fitness and is suitable for all ages, expressing their willingness to delve into this sport more, especially as it requires its practitioners to continuously train during the transition from one belt to another and from one degree to the top.
