At the end of the 5th Bundesliga match day, the previous leaders VfL Wolfsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt separated 1: 1 (0: 1).
Sam Lammers scored the Frankfurt goal in the 38th minute, Wout Weghorst equalized (70th).
With the tailwind of four wins from four Bundesliga games, VfL Wolfsburg went into the game and immediately set the tone.
The highlight of a strong early phase: Weghorst's picket header (16.).
Oliver Glasner's Frankfurters were only able to free themselves after about half an hour when their coach returned to his old place of work.
Then came the chances (Filip Kostic, 31st) and the goal: Kostic brought the ball to Lammers on the edge of the penalty area, where the 24-year-old hit the ball perfectly with a dropkick and put it next to the post unsustainable for Koen Casteels (38th). .
It was the first Bundesliga goal of the attacker borrowed from Atalanta.
Weghorst - who else?
At the beginning of the second half, VfL coach Mark van Bommel changed hands aggressively: U21 European champion Lukas Nmecha came on for Renato Steffen.
But only one of the Wolfsburg players was in danger of scoring - and his name was Weghorst: In the 54th minute, the Dutch international volleyed a cross from Dodi Lukebakio, but put the ball just over the Frankfurt goal.
The third attempt then sat: After Kevin Trapp was only able to fend off a shot attempt in dire need to the side, Weghorst pushed the ball from a few meters over the line (70th).
The deserved compensation for now clearly superior Wolfsburg.
VfL are tied with the new leaders Bayern Munich (13 points each) in second place, while Eintracht (four points) remain fifteenth.
