Former Danish professional cyclist Chris Anker Sörensen had a fatal accident in Belgium on Saturday.
This was announced by the Danish broadcaster TV 2 Sport, for which Sörensen was on site as an expert at the Road World Championships in Flanders.
Accordingly, the Giro stage winner from 2010 was hit by a vehicle during a training drive and succumbed to his serious injuries.
Sörensen was 37 years old.
The mountain specialist ended his professional career in 2017.
Sörensen took part in twelve major country tours, the last time in 2016 in the Tour de France.
In 2012 he finished second in the Pyrenees stage to Bagnères-de-Luchon.
He also won mountain ratings in the Tour de Romandie and the Tour of Catalonia.
