huge disappointment in Maccabi Haifa following the 2: 1 loss to Maccabi Tel Aviv last night (Saturday). The Greens have again suffered big holes in the defense and the club understand that the defensive game must improve if they want to defend the championship. The Greens again suffered inferiority in struggles especially against Bradley Quas and Gabi Knikowski and allowed the Yellows to reach many situations. "Obviously our defensive game is not good from the start of the season, but it is the whole team's defensive game. Too many times come in front of the defensive squad with the face and numerical advantage. Obviously we are aware of that and we work hard to improve it," said the club.
In the first half the attacking game was still the bright spot for Haifa and the offensive link trio that included Omar Atzili, Charon Sheri and Dolev Haziza settled many situations, but in the second half they also faded and could hardly endanger Daniel Peretz.
"There were not the energies we expect ourselves to bring," admitted one of the team's senior players.
"There was a feeling we just couldn't do it. It's a game we'd like to forget and fast because there's another long season and overall we're in a reasonable position in the table, despite a very disappointing season opener."
