The first half was poor in terms of situations, with blues stopper Andreas Christensen being the only one to come up with an intriguing opportunity but kicked over the frame. Four minutes from the start of the second half, Chelsea came on the scoreboard. A great corner kick from Marcus Alonso found Thiago Silva crossing the ball to the far post.
Thomas Tuchel's team enjoyed a bit of luck and doubled the lead eight minutes later. Angolo Canta's kick from outside the box changed direction after hitting Eric Dyer and penetrating Hugo Loris' net. The visitors approached the third goal several times, and throughout the second half it did not appear that the opponent was able to return to the game. The final goal came two minutes into extra time when Antonio Rodiger's flat kick subdued the Roosters. Chelsea equaled Liverpool at the top, with both teams having 13 points and the same goal balance. Both teams lead Manchester United thanks to a goal difference only. Tottenham, on the other hand, remained in seventh place.
