Diego Schwartzman overcame a shock defeat in his first match to lead Argentina to qualify for the 2022 Davis Cup qualifiers at the expense of Belarus.
The world number 15 lost to young man Daniil Ostapnikov in his first match yesterday, but he rose up today to defeat the world number 1233 over Alexander Zjirovsky 6-1, 6-2.
Argentina advanced 2-1 in the confrontation after winning the doubles match today, after Horacio Zeballos and Maximo Gonzalez narrowly defeated Ostapenko and Eric Arutyunyan 5-7, 6-2, 6-2.
Argentina is heading to the qualifiers in February with the hope of securing a place in the 2022 Davis Cup finals after participating in the first edition in 2019.
The Netherlands also advanced to next year's qualifiers by defeating Uruguay in the World Group Nine.
Wesley Kolhof and Matvey Middelkoop decided the qualification of the Netherlands by winning the doubles match over Ignacio Caro and Martin Cuevas, to advance the Dutch team 3-0.
Brazil also qualified for the qualifiers after beating Lebanon.
This year's Davis Cup finals will be held in Madrid, Turin and Innsbruck in November, with the two finalists qualifying directly for the 2022 finals.
The other sixteen teams will participate in the qualifiers alongside the qualified teams from World Group Nine.
