After an outstanding season opener for PSV Eindhoven, the team began to creak a bit and now coach Roger Schmidt is receiving criticism. Most of the arrows pointed at the coach in recent days relate to his rotation.
None of the team’s players at the front reach an average of more than 76 minutes of play this season. For Eran Zehavi, for example, this is a drastic drop and since the team finished its way to the Champions League qualifiers, he has only played once more than 63 minutes.
The average per game per game of the Golden of the Season stands at 68, while last season he played an average of 78 minutes per game. In China he approached 90 and of course in Maccabi Tel Aviv his season average was usually more than 80 minutes per game. In fact this is Zahavi's lowest minute average since he wore the Palermo uniform almost a decade ago.
Tonight (Wednesday, 19:45, Sport1) Eindhoven will be hosted by the weak Go Ehad Eagles and Zahavi will not only conquer, but also get more significant playing minutes from his coach.
And not only him, but also the other key players at the front.

Sports publicist Sierard Musso wrote a scathing column today: "When Romario played in Eindhoven, he was always said to be 'a little tired.' , Playing cataracts with friends and then returning to training as if for nothing.
"Romario often would not complete full games, but in 109 appearances in PSV uniform, he still played 8,926 minutes. This is an average of 82 minutes per game. Oddly enough, it's more of a duo than Dwaka (62 minutes per game), Mario Getza (76), Eran Zehavi (68), Cody Gakpo (69 and Marco Van Hinkel (64) this season. And we're talking about 30 years later, when football is much more Developed and the players are much fitter and recover much faster "
Musso continued: "How can it be that professional footballers, who maintain a sporty lifestyle, a proper diet, who train regularly, play only about 70 minutes? Coach Schmidt says he makes substitutions just because of fatigue and overload, but Eindhoven fans go crazy. In the case of "Van Hinkel makes sense after all the injuries he has suffered. But the others? Almost none of them played in the Euros last summer, they do not fly to national team games in South America, and Romario's favorite nightclubs closed years ago."
Musso concluded sarcastically: "From Schmidt it sounds as if the PSV Eindhoven players are fragile, as if if they play two full games a week they will break their legs or fall apart. Since Romario there have not been such tired players in Eindhoven."
