Weilheim - The veteran is back again: Max Nagl is once again competing in the “Motocross of Nations” (MXoN), the team world championship.

The Weilheimer is part of the squad that the German Motorsport Federation has nominated for the event in Mantova (Italy) next weekend.

In addition to the 34-year-old "Husqvarna" pilot, who competes in the MX1 class, Simon Längenfelder (MX2) and World Championship protagonist Henry Jacobi (Open) are on the team.

"I am proud to be able to represent Team Germany," said Nagl.

He feels very good, "but since I haven't competed in any World Championship races this year, of course I don't know exactly where I am," said the man from Weilheim on the specialist portal "Speedweek".

Nagl is definitely competitive, because he was at the forefront of the “ADAC MX Masters” series, which was made up of world championship riders.

Nagl is third overall in the ADAC MX Masters

The season has now ended. Nagl took third place in the overall standings (256 points) behind the French Jordi Tixier (287) and Tom Koch (260). At the finals in Reutlingen, Nagl shone with three race wins and the day's ranking. In Fürstlich Drehna (Brandenburg) he was still struggling with the aftermath of a rib injury. That had ensured that he had to skip the third MX Masters of the season, in Dreetz.

In the “Motocross of Nations”, the Germans play the outsider role. Reigning team world champions are the Netherlands, who won in 2019 (in the last event to date) ahead of Belgium and Great Britain. Nagl started at MXoN for the last time in 2018: In the USA he finished sixth and eleventh in his races, the German team finished ninth. In 2012 the man from Weilheim caused a sensation with Ken Roczen and Marcus Schiffer when he won the Chamberlain Trophy for Germany for the first time. Hubert Nagl was there as a team manager at the time. At that time, Max Nagl wore starting number 19 - he now has the same number in Mantova.
