Antonio Di Salvo will be the new head coach of the U21 national team.
The long-time assistant coach will receive a contract until 2023. Hermann Gerland will act as assistant coach.
This was announced by the German Football Association (DFB) after a digital meeting of the Presidium.
»Our common goal is to continue the successful path of the U21 national team and to bring in my own ideas.
This includes both the sporting successes and the further development of the players on the pitch as well as outside our heartfelt actions «, the 42-year-old Di Salvo is quoted in the message.
Under the direction of Stefan Kuntz, the German U21 team had recently reached the European Championship finals three times in a row and won the title twice.
The 58-year-old had switched to the Turkish association as coach of the senior national team.
