Now comes life to the Gerd-Vogt-Sportpark.

Erding - "The new hall is very beautiful and very successful," emphasized Erding's second mayor Petra Bauernfeind.

She is looking forward to the future operation of the sports facility in the Gerd-Vogt-Sportpark in the Geislinger Ängern.

After TSV Erding was recognized as a senior-friendly club, the participants were given a tour of the new triple gymnasium by master builder Sebastian Henrich. From the beginning, the planning basis for the triple hall was that it would not be built for schools, but exclusively for clubs. "Since there are no hall times in the sports halls in the mornings due to school operations, there is now finally the opportunity to primarily provide a hall for senior citizens, also in cooperation with kindergarten children," explained Henrich. Outside the triple gymnasium there is a sports facility in the Gerd-Vogt-Sportpark with two small turf fields, one compact turf field and one large artificial turf field.

On the upper floor of the hall there are changing rooms and showers for the outdoor athletes, while on the ground floor there are changing and shower rooms for the indoor athletes. “The acoustics in the hall are unbelievable,” said the city architect. Since the wooden ceilings and walls are designed to be soundproof with notches, you can speak normally in the hall and understand each other well. The hall is also equipped with a complex ventilation system and a comprehensive photovoltaic system on the roof. Safety is ensured with medical rooms and WiFi for accessibility in emergencies. In addition, the building has plenty of storage space.

The hall can be divided into three areas by two partition walls, some of which are made of mesh. Windows are installed on three sides at floor level. "Other sports halls are usually not visible from the outside," emphasized Henrich. An advantage here is, for example, that parents can see whether their children are still in the hall when they are picked up. The positioning of the glass surfaces would also prevent excessive solar radiation from entering the hall, which counteracts overheating in summer. The surface of the floor is two-tone. This is used to set off the various playing fields, such as basketball, volleyball and other sports. Underfloor heating ensures a pleasant distribution of heat.

However, some equipment elements have also been left out because they are no longer up-to-date.

“A large loudspeaker system was dispensed with, as modern, small loudspeakers can already cover an entire hall,” explained Erdings city architect.

The hall is deliberately called a “sports workshop” because it is not used for concerts and other events like a multi-purpose hall.

This can be seen, for example, on the concrete walls and ceilings.

The sports hall itself cost around 8.5 million euros.

The dimensions of the sports area inside the hall are 27 x 45 meters.

The Gerd Vogt Hall is now available for the clubs.

Not least because of the pandemic, it was not inaugurated with a grand opening, instead it was a so-called "soft opening".

The detailed tour was a great pleasure for the senior citizens interested in sports.

“The town builder has a lot to do, and then he takes so much time for us,” said an enthusiastic visitor.

You would feel "very valued", was heard several times.

The fact that the city is so committed to the elderly is “really great”.
