SpVgg Unterhaching is and will remain shaken by a corona outbreak: Twelve professional footballers from the regional league squad are affected, and the U19 Bundesliga game must now be canceled.
Unterhaching
- In the course of the Corona outbreak at SpVgg Unterhaching (we reported), which currently affects twelve football professionals from the regional league squad, more and more games are canceled.
After the two canceled matches in Bayreuth (catch-up date still open) and against Schweinfurt (new date on November 2), the game scheduled for October 1 at Viktoria Aschaffenburg is also to be canceled and postponed (October 19 is under discussion; the final decision should be made on Monday).
The postponement of the home game against Buchbach to October 12th has nothing to do with Corona: The reason for this is that Buchbach has to play in the Totopokal against 1860 Munich beforehand (October 8th) and the schedule would otherwise be too crowded.
Ten of twelve players who tested positive are vaccinated
This is exactly what SpVgg Unterhaching is facing, namely a tight schedule with additional English weeks. But the current situation cannot be shaken: “Health comes first,” emphasizes SpVgg President Manfred Schwabl, who is still puzzling why the team of coach Sandro Wagner is currently suffering so much from the corona pandemic. “Of the twelve players who tested positive, ten were vaccinated and one recovered - it cannot be understood.” The duration of the quarantine depends on whether the affected players show symptoms or not. “Some are sick and cannot go full throttle again after they have recovered,” says Schwabl, who appeals for understanding of the postponement of the game.
After all, there is also good news: not a single corona case was recorded in the SpVgg Unterhaching office, the infection is limited to the group of players.
In the training of the professionals, only those who have tested negative several times currently practice.
U19 Bundesliga: A junior game in Karlsruhe also canceled
Also in the U19 Bundesliga, the Hachingen A-Juniors, who are also affected by Corona, cannot compete at Karlsruher SC this Sunday, as originally planned: Due to quarantine measures ordered by the health department, regular training was not possible.
By mutual agreement and in consultation with the DFB, both clubs agreed to cancel a match and to make up for November 13th.
"Our thanks go to the KSC and the DFB, who immediately agreed to a game being postponed due to our situation," said SpVgg trainer Marc Unterberger.
