PSG: Zoumana Camara is deprived of an internship at Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea

Zoumana Camara should have been at Cobham Training Center, Chelsea FC's training center since Monday. The current coach of the U19 PSG, who is preparing this season for the professional football coach certificate (BEPF), had, in fact, chosen to do his internship in a foreign professional club - compulsory in his training - with the champions of Europe in title. But “Papus” called the London club and the DTN (national technical management) last week to warn them that he would ultimately not be doing his internship at Chelsea FC. The reason ? According to our information, the Parisian leaders told him that they did not want him to do his internship at the club trained by Thomas Tuchel, the former PSG coach, dismissed in December 2020.

Parisian President Nasser al-Khelaïfi, however, sent a message to Thomas Tuchel last May to congratulate him on Chelsea's victory in the Champions League.

Under contract with PSG until June 2023, Zoumana Camara, who took on the post of Parisian defender (from 2007 to 2015) then deputy (2015-2020) and now U19 coach, did not wish to s 'oppose the will of its leaders and therefore abandoned the idea of ​​his internship in the English capital.

He will therefore have to find another internship in a foreign club.

Holder of the DES (higher training diploma), which allows coaching up to N2 (4th division), “Papus” has passed the entrance tests for the BEPF training which takes place over ten weeks. One of them consists of an internship abroad, which the candidate must find through his network. This course consists of following the training sessions plus the match of the foreign team for a week and writing a report as part of his training. Zoumana Camara, 42, had chosen the London club because he had been one of Thomas Tuchel's assistants, in particular in charge of set pieces. The two men, who have worked together for two and a half years, appreciate each other and the German coach was delighted to welcome him for his internship.

After his ouster from the Parisian sidelines on the evening of December 23-24 following PSG's L1 victory against Strasbourg (4-0), Tuchel quickly bounced back by signing up a month later with Chelsea FC with which he won the Champions League last May, beating Manchester City in the final (1-0). For his part, Zoumana Camara had been removed from the new Parisian staff of Mauricio Pochettino. After having been appointed to the post of sports coordinator of the training center, in charge of supervising the U17 and U19 of the Parisian club during the second part of last season, “Papus” occupies the post of coach of the U19 PSG this year.His team occupies 2nd place in group A (behind Lille) with a total of 4 wins in 5 games and they conceded a draw to FC Bruges (2-2) on the first day of the Youth League.
