Paralympics winner sticks to aircraft - and has to go to jail

Paralympics winner James Brown stuck himself to an airplane with super glue to protest for more climate protection.

Now he was given a "prison sentence" in the truest sense of the word.

London - In October 2019, Paralympics winner James Brown caused a sensation in Great Britain *.

The Northern Irishman had glued himself to an airplane at London City Airport for the Extinction Rebellion environmental protection movement.

Now the two-time track cycling gold medalist from 1984 has to go to jail for disrupting air traffic.

According to the prosecution, the severely visually impaired Brown was listed as a passenger on the flight that he paralyzed with his environmental campaign.

He suddenly climbed onto a British Airways plane and attached his hand to the roof of the plane with superglue.

Photos show him on his stomach on the plane that was supposed to take off for Amsterdam.

Brown was sentenced to twelve months in prison on Friday (September 24) in Southwark Crown Court in London.

He will actually have to serve six of them - a "prison sentence" in the truest sense of the word.

The judge argued that the heavy sentence was intended to deter those who "seriously disrupt the lives of ordinary people in the name of protest".

More than 300 passengers were affected, Brown had "shamelessly exploited" his disability.
