Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton has won the Russian Grand Prix.

In the rain in Sochi, the Mercedes driver relegated his Dutch World Championship rival Max Verstappen, who had started from the very back because of an engine change on his Red Bull, to second place.

Third place went to the Spaniard Carlos Sainz in a Ferrari.

The international press writes:

GREAT BRITAIN:

Daily Mail:

"It was fitting that Lewis Hamilton's 100th victory was due to the rain gods with whom he celebrated so often in the 14 years and 108 days between his first victory and his incomparable 100th triumph."

"The Sun":

"On a heartbreaking day for Lando Norris, Lewis Hamilton clinched his" magical "100th Formula 1 victory at the Russian Grand Prix."

"The Guardian":

"To put Hamilton's record in the right light: Michael Schumacher had already exceeded 91 victories, the next most successful driver is Sebastian Vettel at 53. Hamilton remains the only driver who has made his debut in Canada in every season in 2007 could win a victory.

He is now trying to achieve his eighth title this season and surpass Schumacher's seven titles. "

ITALY:

"La Gazzetta dello Sport":

"Hamilton, the magician in the rain: 100th victory in Russia."

"Corriere dello Sport":

"Hamilton goes down in history: 100 wins in Formula 1. He is the first driver to reach this milestone."

SPAIN:

»Marca«:

»The 100th victory of a driver without equal like Hamilton is a historic mark in Formula 1. With Max Verstappen there is a candidate for the throne - he started last and came second - but he will have to sweat blood to to reach the crown. "

FRANCE:

"L'Équipe":

"Lewis Hamilton secures his 100th Formula 1 victory in Russia - and takes control of the championship again."

AUSTRIA:

»Kronen Zeitung«:

»After a final rain drama in Sochi, Lewis Hamilton won his 100th Formula 1 race win and with this jubilee success he took over the championship lead again.

In contrast to the leading McLaren driver Lando Norris, the world champion, who started from fourth place, switched to intermediate tires shortly before the end and thus secured victory.

Norris was only seventh.

Max Verstappen, who started 20th and last, saved second place thanks to the weather. "

SWITZERLAND:

»Blick«:

»The man is a living legend!

Lewis Hamilton clinches his 100th (!) GP victory and the new World Championship lead in Sochi - and in an extremely dramatic way. "
