Back at AS Roma this summer after a loan from Rennes, the 2018 world champion wants to play for Qtar in the team coached by Laurent Blanc

Steven Nzonzi no longer wants to play for AS Roma and his coach José Mourinho who no longer relies on him since his return from loan at Stade Rennais.

The 2018 world champion wants to fly to Qatar and wear the jersey of Al-Rayyan, the club coached by Laurent Blanc.

The contract which awaits it is ready according to the Gazzetta dello Sport which reveals the information in its edition of this Monday.

However, the former player of Racing 92 and PSG (1999-2002) must take his troubles patiently.

Because if the contract is OK, it blocks in Rome.

The player's father, who is also his agent, demands that Roma pay his compensation to his son.

The Nzonzi clan does not intend to give a gift to a club which put the world champion on the list of undesirable.

José Mourinho did not put him on the lists to take part in Serie A matches, nor in those of the Conference Europa League.

Suffice to say that if he stays, Nzonzi will experience a white season at 33.

His agent is negotiating to obtain the payment of at least half of the salary of his last year of contract which runs until June 2022. The requested amount would reach nearly two million euros according to our Italian colleagues.

The owners of the club and Tiago Pinto, its general manager of the club, refuse, for the moment, to follow this demand.

Still according to the Gazzetta, "the story will eventually settle" but it stalled until further notice.

Nzonzi joined the Roman club in 2018 just after France's World Cup victory.

He had arrived from Sevilla against more than 26 million euros.

He had participated in 39 matches during the 2018-2019 season before being loaned to Galatasaray (August 2019-January 2020), then to Rennes (January 2020-June 2021) allowing the Breton club to qualify for its first Ligue des champions a year ago.
