Dortmund - It was a short but dominant time. FC Bayern Munich: Götze change triggered BVB break
At that time, top talent Mario Götze moved to FC Bayern Munich * for 37 million euros, the record champions had drawn the contractually stipulated transfer fee and thus considerably weakened the biggest competitor, who had escaped the big FCB for two years. At that time, the BVB officials emphasized again and again that the team did not want to be put off by the change, but Piszczek now clarified what was actually going on inside the team.
"Mario went to Bayern, that was the biggest break in the team because it showed us that we wouldn't play together forever," said the 36-year-old, who ended his career after last season.
"That was a shock because we were already wondering what could happen if we continued to play like this." Despite the great success, the time in Dortmund had cost a lot of strength and energy, it was normal for this break to occur explains the former Polish international.
Mario Götze: career low after Bayern change
Götze would have made the move to play for Pep Guardiola *. The central offensive midfielder could not build on his time in the Ruhr area, he was repeatedly thrown back from injuries. The system didn't fit with Götze either, only three years later he moved back to Dortmund. There, however, he did not make his second career breakthrough either.
