Liverpool - The English football legend Roger Hunt passed away on Monday evening at the age of 83 after a long illness.

The former striker played for Liverpool * for over ten years and is a great club icon there.

As an English national player, he won the World Cup in his own country in 1966 and played in the final against Germany from the start.

In a statement on the club's website, Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp * commented on Hunt's death.

“This is really sad news.

"Roger Hunt is at the top in his importance for the history of the club, that is clear," continues Klopp.
