German teams in the Champions League: Malen's debut goal is enough for BVB, RB before the end

Borussia Dortmund can also win Erling Haaland - in this case against Portuguese champions Sporting. For RB Leipzig it will be tight after another defeat against Bruges.

Second game, second win for Borussia Dortmund in this Champions League season.

Marco Rose's team won 1-0 (1-0) at home against Portuguese champions Sporting Lisbon and are now tied for second place in Group C behind Ajax Amsterdam.

This time Erling Haaland was only in the spotlight before kick-off.

The Norwegian was subsequently named the top goalscorer of the previous Champions League season (10 goals in 8 games).

But then Haaland had to get off the pitch again, he hadn't gotten fit in time after a foot injury.

And there were less than three minutes played when the next setback came for Dortmund: midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud had to be replaced after a punch.

Without the two regulars, BVB had a hard time against the Lisbon club.

Sporting often used this for quick advances, which never posed great danger.

Dortmund's summer shopper Donyell Malen was supposed to replace Haaland, but often still looked like a foreign body in BVB's game - not for the first time this season.

Malen found himself on the sidelines several times when there were supposed opportunities.

In the 37th minute, however, the young Dutchman scored his first competitive goal for his new club.

Manuel Akanji matched Jude Bellingham and the Englishman continued to lead quickly and precisely in Malen's run, which hit the far corner.

Borussia's best attack led to the lead.

In the second half, Dortmund controlled the game, but limited its offensive engagement to the bare minimum.

In the 74th Malen cheered for the second time, but again the 22-year-old had been sidelined before.

RB Leipzig threatens to end in group A.

For RB Leipzig, the situation has deteriorated further.

The team of coach Jesse Marsch lost against Club Bruges 1: 2 (1: 1) and thus missed a reparation after the clear opening defeat at Manchester City.

Due to the failure, Leipzig is still last in Group A, in the parallel game Paris Saint-Germain won 2-0 (1-0) against Manchester City.

Christopher Nkunku has already scored all three RB goals in Manchester, and in the Bundesliga with a 6-0 win against Hertha, the attacker excelled with four goal participations.

He only needed five minutes against Bruges when he pushed the ball past Simon Mignolet, who was rushing out to the left.

The leadership was canceled due to an alleged offside position, but the VAR legitimately intervened and gave the gate.

Neither the assistants Emil Forsberg nor Nkunku had been sidelined.

RB had problems with the brisk man-to-man pressing of the guests - and was again surprised by a chip ball on the defensive.

This resulted in Hans Vanaken's equalizer after Charles De Ketelaere's pass from the baseline (22nd minute).

Again, the hit that was previously denied due to offside counted only after a VAR check.

The Belgians, who were also clearly present in the duels, rewarded themselves with the lead before the break: Mats Rits exploited a flank that Vanaken had covered with his head from close range (41st).

After the break, the German runner-up remained actively active, but initially had no serious opportunities - and even had to accept a supposed third goal.

Noa Lang completed a counterattack, but was previously just offside (71.).

RB constantly pushed into the Belgian half of the game.

Nkunku lifted Mignolet, who then made him fall.

This scene was also checked, but to the displeasure of the people of Leipzig, it was not punished with a penalty (79th).
