The golden times in Uerdingen with the 1985 DFB Cup victory against FC Bayern or the "Miracle of the Grotenburg", the 7: 3 in the European Cup against Dynamo Dresden, are many decades ago.
The former Bundesliga club is now playing fourth class in the Regionalliga West.
And there it was a historic 0:11 (0: 3) defeat against table leaders RW Essen.
The club, which is no longer called Bayer, but KFC Uerdingen, had never lost that high.
With more than seven goals difference you have never been defeated, the biggest debacle so far was a 2: 9 at Borussia Mönchengladbach.
That was in 1987, but in the quarter-finals of the DFB Cup.
At that time, the Uerdingen coach was called Karlheinz Feldkamp, and later national players such as Stefan Kuntz and Oliver Bierhoff were on the pitch.
Nine points deduction for the current season
There is not much left in Krefeld of the glory of the past: The West German Football Association (WFV) had the club in early September with a deduction of nine points for the current season.
The club had filed for bankruptcy in August and had been refused a third division license.
The KFC was only able to put together its team just before the start of the season.
During the week, however, Uerdingen celebrated his first win of the season against Sportfreunde Lotte (2-0).
In front of 1750 spectators in the alternative stadium in Velbert against Essen it was 0: 3 at halftime, in the second round the Esseners then scored their goals of the season 21 to 28. A total of seven players entered the list of goalscorers, Simon Engelmann scored three times for RWE.
Also bitter for the KFC: Goalkeeper Jovan Jovic saved a penalty in the 15th minute, but had to be replaced after being injured.
His representative Jonas Brendieck then conceded nine goals in his first regional league game.
