Danny Abdia speaks ahead of the new season (Washington Wizards' official Twitter account in Hebrew)
A little over half a year after the frustrating injury that cut short his rookie season in hostility, Danny Abdia is back on the pitches.
The Washington Wizards 'Israeli forward made his debut this season (Saturday through Sunday), taking part in the Wizards' 117-99 loss to the Knicks in the pre-season.
Although this is the first game after a long time, preliminary conclusions could be drawn from Abdia's performance and the use that new coach Wes Ansald Jr. makes of it: as has often been suggested by him and also by general manager Tommy Shepherd, Abdia did come off the bench, With the opening small forward slot, Cantabius fills Caldwell Pop who made his debut in his new team.

Abdia went up to the floor for the first time with five and a half minutes left in the first quarter, scoring his 4 points in the second quarter, including a beautiful dunk in a burst. In the second half he saw the Knicks run away with a sniping demonstration - the team from the Big Apple finished with no less than 24 threes - which helped them escape and secure the victory relatively easily with the rest of J. Barrett leading the list of winners with 18, Derek Rose contributing 15 and -8 assists and newcomer Owen Fournier adds 14.
The Wizards were led by Montreux Harle with an 18-point double-double and 10 rebounds from the bench, and Bradley Bill added 14, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals in 25 minutes.
Abdia, whose contribution totaled 4 points (2 of 4 from the field including 0 of 2 of the three), 3 rebounds and an assist in 16 minutes, will be in charge throughout his time on the floor in the small forward position, when contrary to some estimates he does not lead the second five. Of the Wizards but again plays mostly alongside dominant guards like Bill and Spencer Dinwidi, and rarely touches the ball on offense.
Still in the probing phase.

"Feels good to be back. I wanted to get used to the pace, the energies of an NBA game again," Abdia concluded the game.
"It's not easy, my body needs to get used to it. It's a good first step for me - it's safe. We had some mistakes in defense but I'm not worried. We have good guards, experience and great coaches. We have to give them credit - they scored well."
Abdia and the Wizards will return to the floor for another pre-humility game against Toronto on the night between Tuesday and Wednesday.
