Danny Abdia speaks after recovering from injury (from Washington Wizards' Twitter)

After finishing a six-month absence from the pitches and returning to play tonight (Saturday through Sunday), Danny Abdia is confident his second season in the NBA will look completely different from its predecessor.

"In my rookie season I think I was in the market. That's the exact setting," Abdia said after scoring 4 points in 16 minutes in Washington's 117-99 loss to the Knicks in a preseason game.

"There were players I played against last year and it was not easy for me, but in the second year you already know where you are and you feel much better. I have already met all the defenses in the league, all the players. I feel more experienced, smarter, understand the league better ".

Abdia understands that it will take him time to remove the rust that has accumulated following the prolonged absence, but believes it will happen quickly.

"I feel like I'm slowly getting into the rhythm. It's not easy not to play half a year and get straight into NBA-level matters, but I feel like I'm making the right moves," he explained.

Washington coach Ansald Jr., who brought Abdia off the bench, summed up the Israeli's performance and said: "It was good, even very good. He didn't score too much, but they gave him the ball and he played some pick and roll, and read the moves correctly. ".

At the same time, according to Ansald Jr., "he also had some mistakes on defense. He needs to communicate better, we need to get him to do that. He needs to talk to the players on the pitch louder, and more often."

Abdia's return alongside Cantabius Caldwell Pop's debut has taken Rocky Corey Kispert out of tonight's rotation, but Ansald Jr. claims it is not a sign of the future, and does not hint at what the rotation will look like later in the season. "It doesn't mean anything. KCP is back, Danny is back and I wanted to get them involved. This is proof of the depth we have this year. Danny is back from injury and I want to give him long minutes first."

"We used him in pick and roll, and he read the moves."

Coldwell Pop also addressed Abdia's comeback and also addressed the defensive errors he made.

"He played well, not bad. He still has a lot of work to do, we have to help him be focused because he missed some things on defense. I haven't really watched him play before, but you can see the energies and effort he makes, and I think he will be good for us." .
