The World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada) has sanctioned the Moscow anti-doping laboratory again.
As Wada announced on Saturday evening, the laboratory involved in the Russian doping scandal is now also prohibited from carrying out blood tests relating to the so-called biological passport.
The laboratory can contest this decision within three weeks before the International Court of Justice for Sports.
Wada had already withdrawn the laboratory's approval in January 2020, and since then the institute has not been allowed to examine blood samples.
Work on the Biological Passport, a program that tests blood for the effects of prohibited substances, not the substances themselves, was allowed to continue for the time being.
In December 2019, Wada decided on far-reaching sanctions against Russia for extensive manipulation of data in the Moscow control laboratory.
In addition to the suspension of its anti-doping agency Rusada, Russia, among other things, as a nation, is not allowed to participate in or host certain major sporting events such as the Olympic Games or World Championships for four years.
Wada withdrew full accreditation from the Moscow laboratory in 2015 after the doping program institutionalized in Russia was uncovered.
