Professional football player Mason Crosby has a job where every attempt has to be successful.
There are only two reviews of his performance when he goes on the pitch.
No gaps, no differentiated approach: either, it hits - or it doesn't.
As a field goal scorer for the Green Bay Packers, he usually comes onto the field when the football has to be kicked between the bars in order to secure three points due to a lack of realistic touchdown chance.
Crosby is actually considered reliable.
But what the man with the gray hair experienced against the Cincinnati Bengals bordered on a nightmare.
22:22 it was close to the end when wild minutes began for Crosby.
First attempt:
2:16 minutes before the end, Crosby ran up - and aimed past from 36 yards.
Second attempt:
three seconds on the clock, 51 yards - again no success.
Third attempt:
The game was now in overtime, 40 yards - to the left.
Fourth attempt:
49 yards this time, pass recipient Davanta Adams stopped looking this time, quarterback Aaron Rodgers moved to a different position, sometimes you just have to change something.
Crosby kicked football - and this time he succeeded.
“I was really happy to hit the last one.
That was a bit of a relief, ”Crosby said after the dramatic finale.
The Packers won 25:22.
The 37-year-old was lucky that the opposing field goal manager Evan McPherson also failed twice, once 26 seconds before the end and once in overtime.
A look at the statistics shows how unusual Crosby's appearance was: The kicker is actually very reliable, before the game he had successfully converted 44 of his 46 field goal attempts since 2019, this year he had not yet blundered.
He had also scored three against the Bengals until the final phase - and also got an extra point by foot after a touchdown.
Then the wild minutes began.
