Wikström competed a total of 106 times in the World Cup, but it was never enough to make it onto the podium. Two fourth places jumped out as the best results. She also took part in world championships, and in 2017 she even won the bronze medal with the team in St. Moritz. For the Olympian, who remained without a medal in both Sochi and Pyeongchang, a long and eventful chapter in life now closes.

“Everything comes to an end at some point.

I've only been skiing my whole life, yes it was my life, ”writes the slalom specialist in her farewell announcement.

“I'm really grateful that I got to spend these years in the ski circus and had the opportunity to call it my job,” continues Wikström.

Many people have only ever seen the “beautiful sides” of their job, “but there is a lot of work behind it.

You are on the road 200 days a year, blood, tears and laughter ”.

That's sad to hear.

I will miss you and I wish you only the best, ”writes the Olympic champion.
