The era of the promotion coach is over: VfB Hallbergmoos dismissed coach Gedi Sugzda on Wednesday.

For the time being, the assistant coach takes over the command.

Hallbergmoos

- Four cracking defeats with 18 goals conceded were too many.

On Wednesday Bayern league team VfB Hallbergmoos pulled the rip cord and dismissed trainer Gedi Sugzda.

However, the club and the coach diverge in friendship.

Sports director Anselm Küchle found it anything but easy to release Sugzda after almost three years.

"Gedi is an excellent sportsman, a good coach and a wonderful person," says Küchle about the coach, who not only promoted the club because of its promotion to the Bayern League.

The heavy defeats in previous games and the second half on Sunday in Deisenhofen with a frightening self-abandonment of the team had solidified the impression that the team needed new impulses.

Sports director Anselm Küchle: The decision was "incredibly difficult" for the club

The VfB sports director emphasizes that the step was "incredibly difficult" for him and those responsible for the club.

Not least because of Sugzda's great services to the club, one or the other game was waited before action was taken.

In the meantime, with a series of five draws, it looked like the ship would get back on course.

But now there was the decisive step backwards.

In the 5-0 defeat in Deisenhofen, it was not to be overlooked in the second half of the game that the team let themselves be shot with almost no resistance.

"It is my motto in life to never give up," said Gedi Sugzda on Wednesday after the release, but he reacted with understanding to the club's decision.

“Three of the last four games were bad,” says the ex-professional footballer, who is always honest, authentic and direct.

In view of the latest results, the club's move is not surprising for him - "because everyone is thinking about performances like the 1: 7 at TSV 1860 Munich II and the 0: 5 in Deisenhofen".

Has VfB Hallbergmoos not strengthened enough after being promoted?

But Sugzda goes with his head held high: "I had two and a half good years in Hallbergmoos and now four bad months." It has been shown again that football teams get into great difficulties after promotion without major reinforcements.

"I got promoted four times with teams and then had enormous problems three times," says the 53-year-old, who is now only a teacher at the Munich soccer school.

He is currently not worried about whether he will train a men's or a youth team in the future.

(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

"We have grown together and have always had an open relationship," explains VfB official Küchle. "But unfortunately the right key was not found." As a first measure, VfB Hallbergmoos decided that the currently injured co-player-coach Peter Beierkuhnlein (33) would be responsible for the extremely important duel between bottom of the table Hallbergmoos and penultimate Schwabmünchen on Friday will. But Küchle also indicates that he will be looking around the market in the coming days and holding talks with coaches without a club. He wants to exchange ideas about the philosophies of potential candidates and therefore has no schedule when looking for a coach. “We're not going to take a quick shot,” says Anselm Küchle.

Gedi Sugzda: "I wish the club all the best and Peter that he and the team now knock over the goat."

With a win from 16 games, the most goals conceded in the league (47) and now five points behind the relegation places, VfB is in a precarious sporting situation before the cellar duel with Schwabmünchen.

Nevertheless, the league membership moves, Küchle can look forward to many messages via WhatsApp or e-mail.

Bayern league teams usually receive a lot of inquiries after the dismissal of coaches.

The present belongs first of all to the transition coach Peter Beierkuhnlein.

Küchle promises him all support in preparing the team for the match against Schwabmünchen.

The last words of Gedi Sugzda also fit in with this: "I wish the club all the best and Peter that he and the team now knock over the goat."
