Argentinian striker Lautaro Martinez scored the only goal of the match in the 43rd minute of the match, while Yoshiman Jotun of the Peru national team missed a penalty kick in the 64th minute.
With this result, Argentina raised its score to 25 points in second place, six points behind leader Brazil, while Peru's balance froze at 11 points in ninth to last place.
In other matches, Brazil beat Uruguay by four goals, Chile beat Venezuela 1-0, and Colombia drew with Ecuador without goals.
The first four places in the South American qualifiers qualify directly for the finals in Qatar, while the fifth will enter the global qualifiers.
