EC Peiting in a duel with two heavyweights

Peiting - slowly finding your way into the season and gaining self-confidence for the really big chunks against supposedly easier opponents - there is no such thing at EC Peiting this year. In today's away game against the "Eisbären Regensburg" on Friday and in the home game on Sunday against the "Starbulls Rosenheim", two major league heavyweights are waiting for coach Anton Saal's men. “It's not so bad to play against such strong opponents. Everyone is wide awake from the start, ”says the trainer.

"Regensburg was first last year, is well-rehearsed and has strengthened itself well with Andrew Schembri," says Saal, who sees the Upper Palatinate team as the favorite.

In the past, the ECP has always delivered good games in Regensburg and also scored points.

"The 'polar bears' are beatable, after all, we don't make a coffee trip to the Danube," explains Saal.

In order to be able to take something away from Regensburg, his team has to improve significantly compared to the opening weekend.

"We have to be good defensively and score in excess," is Saal's wish.

To date, the ECP has not yet achieved a power player.

EC Peiting: Home game on Sunday against Rosenheim

With the exception of Marco Habermann, who will probably be there again next week, the Peitinger can draw on unlimited resources. “We have four rows available,” says Saal. The young players who are necessary for this will be missing on Sunday against Rosenheim, however, because they have to play for the U20 before that.

Against the "Starbulls" that the former ECP coach John Sicinski trains, the Peitinger played the last games of the past season. In the playoff quarter-finals, the ECP had to give up after two wafer-thin defeats after extra time. "The defeats no longer have an effect, although we know that we can keep up," says Saal. For him, the Rosenheimers are title contenders given their top-class reinforcements. With Steffen Tölzer from the DEL Club in Augsburg as well as Nicolas Cornett (Bad Nauheim), Marc Schmidpeter (Kassel) and Brad Snetsinger (Memmingen), the “Starbulls” - they collected four points on the starting weekend - brought enormous quality to the team. “To get something against them, everything has to fit. We have to play very focused, not make any mistakes and the special teams have to work, ”said Saal.
